Sound Forge 2 App Reviews
I have purchased it expecting it to be as good as it is on windows, but it is a dreadful shame that they couldn’t make it as brilliant as its windows version. It bugs all the time, you have to restart it and sometimes, install it all over again. I have tried the Pro version sold at Sony website and to my disappointment and money waste, it works awful as well, I must inform that my mac computer is updated and has a powerful processor, memory and hard disk. So, no excuses to work so poorly… I really hope one day Sony do a decent version for mac, just the way the do for windows….
UPDATE PLEASE
Doesn’t work at all with OS X Captain 10.11.2…. purchased but never starts … I lost 99 euros.. We are waiting for an update.!!!!!!!!
Crash all the time on start up
Worked well some rare times Now unusable ( crash at each start - No solution )
i’m disapointed about the performance of this Soundforge for mac. The software ergonomics is ok… i worked a lot with Soundforge on PCsince a while in the past. No evolution here. The graphic performances are bad. The software take about 7 seconds to open… This on a top notch iMac 5k, Seriously, in this price range, Soundforge performance is a joke. Sony thats a cheap shot… please work harder when people have to pay more than better soft...
SoundForge 2 Mac
Very often hangs. It does not have as a version for windows ruller volume...
i use this app already 14 years (since all current apps was released by Sonic Foundry). all fine but current version is turns off when i use a few AU (audio unit) plug-ins (for example: wave hammer) for long lenght audio files (more than 60 minutes).
I have relied on Soundforge for many years on my PC, and it was a killer application. This one however is not the same engine as the stable and useful tool that it was in the past. Problems and Mo Problems. I am have been an audio engineer for over 30 years, I have seen things develop and become more affordable over the years. THis things crashes, when you go to save your edits it times out and then crashes, thus the work is gone and you have to start over. Save, Save, Save, it does not matter when you save, it will lock up, I have a new mac pro with tons of ram, does not matter. I smell Pooooooo on this one. Love to love it but this is a Good one for the tolit bowl. Flushing it soon.
Nicwe 2 track editor/converter
Great 2 track editor powerful tools and easy to use. It’s still lacking behind the PC version. Plugin compatibility is great.
I’m having major trouble with glitches in playback. Too bad, I love Sound Forge, or did love it back in the day. Glitches are intolerable. It has also lost some of the overall easy workflow it used to have. Too bad - it is like seeing an old friend who isn’t so well.
I purchased this app because I needed a 2 track editor to do some basic editing since Bias is no longer in business. I own a 2013 Mac pro and It does not open any files at all. it only works with my late 2012 Mac mini. It does not support any scrubbing and you cannot customize anything except the side bars. You cannot even change the background color or the color of the wave form. I would not recomend this product. I am so disappointed. TwistedWave is way better. I will stick to TwistedWave. I wish I could get my money back.
Dont waste your money
Disappointed, and I want my money back.
I have to say I am more than a little stunned that this program is such a disaster. Tried using it on 3 different Macs and it crashes, locks up and generally does not work. SONY should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such a useless program. I want my money back!
Still very slow to open, and crashes frequently. Particularly annoying is that playback will glitch out if you have another audio app such as Logic Pro open, set to a different sample rate. Completely breaks the workflow having the quit Logic every time I want to use Sound Forge as my sample editor. This app has a lot of potential but the issues that have yet to be fixed are pretty bad.
Version 2.0.3 is completely busted
Can’t do anything in this version. The software equivalent of a paperweight. Please fix this issue.
Skip this app.
Crashes frequently. Seems to be caused by some external audio device drivers. App store version serial# not valid for upgrade to Pro version.
Is there something mentally wrong with the tech people at SONY???? Wake up folks and try to use this stupid thing, and then give everyone their money back! This is the most awful thing I have ever tried to use!!
Awesome!
not sure what everyone else has issues with, I love it! works quickly and easy :) definitely glad they created a version for MAC!
After all the disgruntled comments, I hesitated to give Sound Forge 2 a try on a 2014 Retina iMac running Yosemite 10.10.2. But I need a good audio editor. I had used Sound Forge on PC and loved it. So I installed SF2 for Mac today. Admittedly I’ve only done a basic project, but so far I’m extremely happy with the app. Just want others to know Ive experienced no problems. I’m thankful for SF 2 for Mac and glad I purchased it.
Sound Forge 2 for Mac works just fine.
Sound Forge 2 has been stable and does everything that I expect out of it.
I’ve been using Sound Forge since it was owned by Sonic Foundry, before Sony bought them out. Even though I’ve used Pro Tools, Cubase, Sonar, and others, Sound Forge has always been my favorite sound editor. After switching to a Mac several months ago, I had to update to this version as my old disk was for PC only. This turned out to be a good thing, because the current version (2.0.4) is miles ahead of the one I had. I think I’ve gone through three or four different versions over the years and this one is the best by far. A lot has changed, but it’s still familiar enough to dive right in. The Wave Hammer compressor/volume maximizer works wonders for mastering, the multiband compressor allows for extreme fine tuning, & having a parametric eq is always helpful. Found a few minor glitches here and there, but nothing major, and have always instantly recovered from the few crashes I’ve experienced with no loss of data. Easily worth the price. Learn it and you might never want to use anything else.
